About the Simcoe Curling Club
We thought that competitors and visitors might like to learn a little bit about our club. A more detailed history and additional information can be found on our website: www.simcoecurlinclub.ca.
The Simcoe Curling Club is located on the grounds of the Norfolk County Fair. The fairgrounds contain many recreational facilities including a community swimming pool, arena, covered grandstand, horse barns and racetrack, roller arena, skateboard park and many other buildings that are rented out for special events.
The curling club has been located on the fairgrounds since 1955 and this association with the Fair Board has proven beneficial for both the club and the Board. One great advantage to this location is the availability of ample parking around the club.
The Simcoe Curling Club is a 4-sheet facility, with an attractive clubhouse boasting excellent kitchen facilities and of course a well-stocked bar serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to our members and guests. Lockers are being provided to visiting competitors in our locker rooms which are located in the basement of the clubhouse. Unfortunately at this time, we do not have washroom facilities on the main floor of our clubhouse and the clubhouse is generally not wheelchair accessible.
Our ice is prepared and maintained by Kevin McLaren who is a certified Level 2 Ice Technician with several years of experience. We believe that you will find the ice maintenance and the curling stones will provide the players with excellent conditions to support fair, competitive play.
Our curling club is very busy, with about 350 members from Simcoe and surrounding communities. The club is successful largely due to the efforts of many dedicated volunteers. During your visit you will see quite a few of these volunteers in action. They will be happy to provide you with any assistance that they can.
We hope that competitors, officials and guests enjoy their time at our club and in our community.
